Why AICBRN? Great way to meet colleagues outside of my own institution and academic field across the island of Ireland

Goals with AEG: Contribute to shaping the climate and biodiversity research landscape on the island, in particular to articulate the contribution of humanities & social science research

Lisa Sheenan

University College Dublin

Discipline: Finance/sustainable finance/economics

Research interests: Climate finance, Biodiversity finance, Nature-related financial risks, Financial stability, Environmental governance, Financing climate and nature transitions, environmental and climate law.

Why AICBRN? AICBRN provides a unique platform to connect research, policy, and practice in addressing complex environmental challenges. To collaborate across disciplines and contribute a finance perspective to climate and biodiversity research.

Goals with AEG: Contribute expertise in climate and biodiversity finance, environmental and climate law. Strengthen research-to-policy engagement and support interdisciplinary research and funding opportunities. Learn from colleagues across disciplines and help grow the network’s impact and visibility

Amanda Mathieson

Trinity College Dublin

Discipline: Climate, Biodiversity, Just societal transition

Research interests: public engagement and communication on sustainability research

Why AICBRN? Benefit of being an AICBRN member is staying educated on and connected to the extremely broad and diverse research areas of climate and nature. As Manager of AIB Trinity Climate Hub, AICBRN helps our focus on expanding and strengthening climate and nature research.

Goals with AEG: Apply 10 years of experience in public engagement and communication on sustainability research, and bring operational expertise to the AEG

Amy Taggart

Trinity College Dublin

Discipline: Environmental Ethics

Research interests: food ethics, ethics of biotechnologies, animal ethics, philosophy of nature.

Why AICBRN? Because it is brilliant and an important opportunity to bring people together to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises

Goals with AEG: Strengthen cross-border and all-island collaboration and rebalance the research funding landscape

Discipline: lead of UG Nature and Ecosystems group Community and University Sustainability Partnership

Research interests: Biodiversity, nature conservation, nature connectedness, collective climate action legislation and policy

Why AICBRN? To co-design collaborative engagement with biodiversity and climate research and support collective research North and South. Our worldview of nature and more-than-human kin has influenced land-use policy & practice to date; reframing this relationship is imperative.

Goals with AEG: Apply a systems approach and employ 20 years’ experience in public sector, industry and academia.

David Tosh

Ulster University

Discipline: Applied Ecology

Research interests: Management of protected and invasive mammal species e.g. island eradications, Assessing distribution and density of species, exploring relationship between people and wildlife

Why AICBRN? AICBRN needs an all-island perspective and UU being active in the Network will contribute to that. AICBRN offers an opportunity to learn from others and collaborate with like-minded individuals to advance the shared goals of the network.

Goals with AEG: Bring the voice of my institution and school to the AEG. Gain a greater insight into the research community across the island of Ireland.
